RIP Izzy
Izzy ‘Izzmeister’ passed away peacefully in his sleep February 28th ,Wednesday during the night at his home in Exton, PA. He had battled with a diagnosis of kidney failure for about a year, and lived longer than was expected.
Izzy entered first into Kristin’s life as a hidden Penn State Dorm Room cat. His paws came under the door at the wrong time and he was sent to live with Mom and Dad in Clovis, New Mexico.
He had his own personality and was seriously committed to his territory. His snarking was the strongest of his character traits when he nuzzled and buried his head into hair and snarkled (breathed out of nose with some snot escaping). He was quite fond of his space, however; he reluctantly allowed Rex to join the family, and admittingly missed him upon his passing. Upon moving to Pennsylvania he quickly acclimated to his new home. So much so, that when Jackson (Dave & Amber’s cat) moved in, he stood ground there would not be another cat in his space. He began marking his areas. It was then that Izzy began to live life outdoors after eviction from the house.
It was evident that Izzy was failing earlier this week when he stopped eating, drinking, bathrooming. He spent the last couple of days resting on his heated blanket covering the corner chair in the sunroom. Mom supplied hot water bottles, a small lighted candle, and occasional Raiki. It was difficult to watch even as calm as he was. Mom, Nathan, Michael, Kayla, Morgan, Dad, and Kim had all given him the ‘ok’ to pass on just a few hours before his last breath. Nathan stayed with him late while nurturing and loving the cat he grew up with. The family believes he was at peace, and gently slid away during sleep.
Izzy will be missed.

Thank you for this great tribute to Iz, Kim. I miss him dearly but watching him in the last few days was heartbreaking. He gave us love right to the very end and passed when we went to bed.
R.I.P Iz
Oh, how sad!! I’m sorry Kim. It’s so hard to lose a pet. They’re like a combination of child and friend, and so sweet.
Awe. You’re right. I am an animal lover.
I heard a quote once that read. “the one best place to bury a pet is in it’s owner’s heart”.
I know your heart is packed full with Iz.
Great info, thanks for the post!
