You can pick your own with over 200 acres of crops ! LittleOne5 has had two field trips here, and they are really good to the kids in the school groups. They have a learning station where they get to see inside a large refrigerator, have a treat of Apple Cider and the famous Apple Cider Donut, and get to press apples into cider themselves!

They also went on a hayride into the rows of Apple Trees and got to chose their very own three apples from the tree! “Find the right one. Hold it tight and twist three times until it comes off with a small pull.”

I remember going here as a child with my grandmother, DeeDee who lived down the road. It was always a treat to come and pick out some penny candy.

Have you heard of Geocaching yet? Here is my definition, put simply:

“A Treasure Hunt for Adults (and Kids)”

Most likely treasures in your own backyard! They are located around the world! Here in Chester County, Montgomery County & Delaware County alone there are hundreds hiding waiting for you to find them!

It’s where the hunt is the fun part… stumbling upon places you might not have ventured.

You can learn about the caches in your area at www.GeoCaching.com. It’s FREE! (with a pay option). It’s OUTDOORS! It’s ADVENTUROUS!

My first hunt was last year (2007) in Ocean City, Maryland, where we try to vacation for a week every year. I printed out my maps & locations and talked some of my family into joining in the fun. We found a Coastguard park we didn’t know was there! Some foreign coins under the boardwalk! A huge family neighborhood park!

Most people that Geocache a lot have a handheld GPS unit. I will end up with one this year, but have managed some fun caches with Google Maps & GoogleEarth. The Cache is hiding at its location which has Longitude & Latitude References. You get to find it, and the best way to get there! Again, I think the thrill is the hunt, not necessarily the prize.

My hunts have taken 15 minutes (easy ones) up to 30 minutes going round and round in circles treading over the same spot until spotting the find!

Usually there will be a small box of tokens, toys, money, pins, and a log book. You should sign the logbook – and if you’d like to take a trinket – leave one in exchange.

It is also expected that you will log your ‘find’ online on the website. (Sometimes you’ll find yourself logging your “un”find

There are varying levels of difficulty and sizes ranging from magnetic keyholders to large plastic containers.

Geocachers have a respect for the environment asking that you leave no footsteps where you shouldn’t and take trash out as you walk. “Cache in, Trash Out”.

Many National and State Parks have approved caches on their property; as well as private owners.

Take a look! The weather is improving in most areas, you’ll probably find some close to home – get out and do something! (Geocache Username: RealtorKimWood)

It took me a lot of time and research to come up with my children’s names. I wrote them, read them aloud, looked up the meanings, and thought about the disrespectful school children they may encounter.
