Bye Spectrum

What memories do you have of the Philadelphia Spectrum? It’s been around since 1967, that doesn’t really seem all that old to me. Maybe because it isn’t a whole lot older than me and I’m thinking I’m not that old, haha. But soon, we will only have memories of the stadium that was the place to see many different venues over the years.

Spectrum’s Famous Faces

The Philadelphia Phantoms, minor league hockey team & The Philadelphia Kixx, indoor soccer team both called the Spectrum their home stomping ground. The Phantoms will play their last home game on April 10th, 2009 against The Hershey Bears. A Pittsburg based organization recently purchased The Philadelphia Phantoms, I suppose that means they won’t be the Philadelphia Phantoms anymore. Not only sports but many enjoyed some great music & concerts at the Spectrum. The list goes on and on, including Disney on Ice and The Police that I enjoyed last year. Even The 76′ers Basketball team and the Flyers Hockey team had stunts at The Spectrum before they moved next door to the Wachovia Center.

Plans are to construct an all-encompassing entertainment complex to include retail, restaurants and entertainment. The rendering makes it look like loads of fun, but I’ll miss the Spectrum. I realize that times change though – and sometimes we have to make room for new adventures! I’m sure I’ll be able to make more happy memories at the new complex too!
