It’s almost time! On September 2nd students will return to the West Chester Area Schools to begin the school year.The school calendar is one of the first things I do when I have kids in school. Updating all of my calendars so I don’t schedule something on those random days off.

The West Chester School District attends to close to 12,000 students and includes the following schools:

West Chester Elementary Schools – Grades K-5
East Bradford
East Goshen
Exton
Fern Hill
Glen Acres
Hillsdale
Mary C. Howse
Penn Wood
Starkweather
Westtown-Thornbury

West Chester Middle Schools- Grades 6-8
Fugett Middle
Peirce Middle
Stetson Middle

West Chester Senior High Schools- Grades 9-12
East High School
Henderson High School
Rustin High School

Henderson High School will be welcoming a new principal to the school this year, Mr. Robert J. Sokolowski.

Some people like to look at the Chester County School District profiles with test scores etc before deciding to move to Chester County. You can find more information on all Pennsylvania Schools on the Department of Education site: Pennsylvania Department of Education.

One of my favorite parts about the West Chester School District web page is the transportation search. If you are looking to buy a home in West Chester search the website to find out the actual schools for the address you are considering.

Goodbye, LittleOne5, just for a Few Hours

I started writing this post with the title of Letting Go, but that quickly became a post about letting go when you are moving. That just happens sometimes That was fine too, it must have needed to be said.

“Goodbye…. I love you” when said to your children starting new ventures are tough. What is the balance between being the parent that nurtures and wants to keep the kids under their wing vs. loving them enough to let them go?

LittleOne5 is starting Kindergarten soon.

AChrome22 got dropped off at college a few years ago.

Princess19 jumped out of the door at Junior High at I wept the whole way home, it’s been a while, but I remember.

No matter what ventures lie ahead, sometimes the goodbye is tough. It’s important to let your children know that you love them – don’t forget that part. (Especially when they go to college, they tend to get busy and not call you as often -so when they do, make it last !)

It’ll be a bittersweet day in a couple of weeks for me. Although I’ve been down the path twice before (I homeschooled some, but had to let them go at different stages – saying goodbye to LittleOne5 as she walks through the doors of Elementary School won’t be easy.
Saying goodbye to my Pumpkin Pie….. for a long, few hours…. at least I can still walk her in, I don’t have to drop her off a block before the school

Senior High- Grades 9-12
Conestoga High

Tredyffrin and Easttown are the two townships located in the T/E School District.
The main area included is Paoli, Devon, Berwyn, Daylesford, Chesterbrook, Strattford, and Wayne.
The enrollment is over 6,100 students.
